Building Hope at Home: Bringing Adult Mental Health Foster Homes to Wallowa County

Wallowa County is a place defined by resilience, community, and people who look out for one another. Yet for far too long, adults living with serious mental health challenges here have faced an impossible reality: when higher levels of care are no longer needed, there are few if any local options for safe, supportive housing. Too often, individuals are forced to leave their home community, their support systems, and everything familiar just to receive the care they deserve.

Unity Homes Inc. was created to change that.

We are a newly formed nonprofit organization in the early stages of building adult mental health foster homes right here in Wallowa County. Our vision is simple but powerful: to provide safe, stable, and compassionate homes where adults with mental health needs can live with dignity, receive appropriate support, and remain connected to the community they call home.

Why Adult Mental Health Foster Homes Matter?

Adult mental health foster homes serve as a crucial step-down level of care for individuals who no longer require residential treatment or hospitalization but still need structure, support, and stability.

These homes offer:

A family-style living environment.

Consistent, trained caregivers.

Support with daily living skills.

Connection to mental health services and community resources.

Stability that promotes healing, independence, and long-term success.

Without this type of housing locally available, people fall through the cracks cycling through crisis services, hospitals, or being placed far from loved ones. Unity Homes exists to fill this gap and keep people rooted in Wallowa County, where recovery is stronger and outcomes are better.

We’re Just Getting Started and We Need You!

As a nonprofit in its starting stages, Unity Homes Inc. is working tirelessly behind the scenes: navigating licensing requirements, building partnerships, developing policies, and laying the foundation needed to open our first homes. This work is essential and it requires community support to make it possible.

End-of-year donations directly help us with:

Startup and licensing costs

Training and compliance preparation

Furnishings and household essentials

Program development and infrastructure

Building a sustainable, long-term resource for the county

Every contribution, no matter the size, moves us one step closer to opening doors for individuals who desperately need a safe place to land.

A Community-Built Solution

Unity Homes Inc. is more than a program it’s a community commitment. We believe that people with mental health challenges belong here, among friends, family, and neighbors who care. With your generosity, we can build something lasting: homes that provide stability, dignity, and hope for years to come.

As the year comes to a close, we invite you to be part of this beginning.

Your end-of-year donation is not just a gift it’s an investment in compassion, community, and the belief that everyone deserves a place to call home.

From all of us at Unity Homes Inc., thank you for believing in this vision and helping us build a much-needed resource in Wallowa County.
